In the Vineyard
Due to its geographical location, Castello Bonomi is one of the first wineries to carry out the harvest, strictly by hand and using small crates. The 2016 vintage experienced a cool spring with good rainfall in the months of May and June, ensuring excellent plant hydration. Through meticulous cultivation practices aimed at preserving the health of each vine, the winery achieved an outstanding standard of quality. Compared to other vintages, the harvest proceeded at a slower pace, allowing for the ideal ripening of each individual plant.

In the Cellar
The winemaking process involves parceling the grapes and fractionating the must. Press yields do not exceed 55%, ensuring high-quality extraction. Part of the Chardonnay ferments and matures in oak barrels, while the Pinot Nero continues its fermentation and aging process in stainless steel. Extended and frequent batonnage (lees stirring) occurs both in tanks and barrels. The acidity and pH levels are excellent. The wine matures on the lees for approximately 72 months.

Tasting Notes
The 2016 vintage produced wines with a remarkable aromatic and gustatory profile, with the most interesting aspect being their excellent aging potential. On the nose, prominent notes of white-fleshed fruit and tropical fruit stand out, which, over time, give way to complex sensations.

Great Vintage
CruPerdu Grande Annata 2016 is considered one of the finest vintages in Franciacorta in terms of quality. The limited production quantities allow the winery to focus on creating a Franciacorta with great potential. CruPerdu Grande Annata is crafted from Chardonnay (70%) and Pinot Noir (30%) grapes harvested in the same vintage. Only in the best vintages do these two grape varieties achieve a particular acidic structure and savoriness, characteristics that are also reflected in the wine, providing greater complexity and longevity. When these qualities are confirmed after at least 48 months of aging on the lees, a limited number of bottles are selected and rested for another year before being released for sale.
